Yes...Yes...Yes....Guess Who's On 3rd?

Lupe....



I have been insanely bored and uninterested in rap for the better part of this year. However, one up and coming emcee has restored my faith that there are skilled, intelligent artists still alive.

Lupe Fiasco...

Hailing from the Windy City. Say what you want but Chicago has been bringing it. Kanye, Common and Lupe is next up to bat. And I'm really rooting for him to make it. Lupe's debut album Food and Liquor will drop on Atlantic Records June 27th. Though not yet a household name, Lupe has already been featured on Kanye West's 3 times platinum Late Registration album. Jay-Z was so impressed with Lupe that, even though he couldn't sign him to Def Jam, he decided to executive-produce his album. And production credits on the album include Three 6 Mafia, Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, among others. And now his single "Kick, Push" is getting major video play on MTV, and I even hear it frequently on D.C. local radio (imagine that....). Not too sure about BET. I'm not holding my breath waiting for them to give the video any real push....

So I have posted here "Close Your Mind(American Terrorist)" from Food and Liquor and "Conflict Diamonds" The track helped to inspire Kanye's "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" remix. The two started a dialogue, and eventually Fiasco popped on Late Registration's "Touch the Sky."
